The restaurant is an expression of Chef David Yoshimura's unique experience as a chef and second generation Japanese American, or Nisei. Nisei is nestled in the beautiful neighborhood of Russian Hill in San Francisco, sitting proudly next to our sister bar, Iris.

Within one year of opening, Chef David Yoshimura and his team earned one Michelin Star, Michelin’s “Young Chef Award”, a James Beard nomination, and many other esteemed accolades. Ian Cobb, the General Manager and Sommelier, boasts an impressive beverage program which cleverly pairs wine & sake from around the world with cuisine at Nisei.
